The Big Bathroom Reveal

Over Veteran's Day weekend, I started an impromptu bathroom redecorating project. I repainted, filled a few holes, and even changed the 'furniture.' Originally, I had this big wall cabinet sitting on the floor in my bathroom. I barely had anything in it, and it took up a lot of scpace. I took a hint from HGTV and looked around my house for something else to use in place of that cabinet that took up less space. I found a little shelf in my office that had just a tissue box sitting on it, so clearly was not necessary up there. I brought it down, then realize that guests may not want to see my feminine things so I went over to walmart and got these:

Another little project! I created two little baskets to put in the shelf with the yellow and white theme. They look super cute. So now here I have pictures of my bathroom's "new do."

And just a close up of the basket...not perfect but it will do!

I am going to decorate the bathroom with some browns and tans for Friend Thanksgiving (more on that later) on Saturday. I still don't like the tile in the bathroom but the fresh paint helps!

Impromptu Redecorating

So this weekend was supposed to be a relaxing 3-day weekend.  J. and I had no plans Friday or Saturday, and could just relax and spend time together. Then, J. decided to take down the towel rack in the bathroom. Well, this started a whole swift train of thought towards redecorating the bathroom. Here are a few 'before' pictures...

I forgot to take a picture before I started,
so here it is with just a bit of trim done.

The color was tan, but a very light tan...too light.

Not sure how it will look with the bright green curtains.

On Saturday morning, I had J. remove the last part of an old towel-rack that I could not get off the wall years ago when I was redecorating myself. Then I spackled all the holes in the bathroom. While we went to the gym, the spackle dried. Our impromptu decision sent us to Home Depot to get paint where J. picked out the paint color. When we got home I sanded, and cleaned, and put one coat of the new light yellow paint that J. had picked. Last night, I did the last coat and waited on J. to hang the mirror today. It is definitely a work in progress. I didn't like the yellow at first (don't tell J.) but it is growing on me. We still have to decide what shelves or racks to hang still, but I will figure that out this week and post 'finished' pics later this week. Enjoy.

Me

Hi Everyone,
My name is Amanda. This is the first time I have really started to maintain a blog, and I am trying to get it all set up!  I will be posting more information about me soon!

The best decision I ever made

This past summer I made a huge decision, and it turned out to be one of the best things I have ever done. I had been going back and forth about the idea for years, weighing the pros and cons and putting it off. Now I am glad I did because I think fate intervened, and I made the leap at the exact right time.

It went a little like this, I had just broken up with J. because things were just not going well and my sister had just moved out of my house a month before. It was the end of the school year (I am a teacher) and I knew I would have a lot of alone time coming up. I like to have company and I feel like I am more productive when I have company...I loaf around less. I always knew logistically it could work, I mean, I have a nice sized backyard, that is fenced in. I live on a nice street with sidewalks. I have a kitchen where I can put up a gate to close it off. In the summers, I can come home a lot more often, because I only work 3-4 hours in a stretch. It just seemed like the perfect time. I went the first time, and just was not in the mood, and was still in an on and off state of upset about the whole breakup. I went back two days later with one of my friends, and that is the moment that I knew that it was worth the way. That is the day that I met....

Chloe

She is the love of my life. She is the first dog I have ever owned or had living with me. From day 1 she was great! House broken, kind, friendly, and a great snuggle bug. When I went to the SPCA that day, she had just arrived about 3 hours before. She and I were meant for each other. She has been my most favorite companion ever since (along with J, who I am back together with now). Her only "bad girl" moments revolve around food. If she has access to food, especially candy or bread (like her mama), she WILL eat it, and tear through bags or wrappers to do so. Therefore, a baby gate, and/or supervision when the gate isn't up fixes that problem. Since she is such a big part of my life, expect to see her cute puggle face an awful lot!

Autumn Leaves & Fall Flavors

It is officially fall and you can see it all around you here in Buffalo, NY. Red, orange, and yellow leaves on the trees and in the grass, pumpkins on doorsteps and scarecrows in gardens. The color palette has changed, and it is just so comforting. I am just going to share my fall favorites:

Starbucks Pumpkin Chai Lattes (mmmm!)

Pumpkins (even though there is a squirrel eating mine)

Walking through the leaves (crunch crunch crunch)

Bundling up (but not being cold!)

Pumpkin, cinnamon and apple flavors everywhere (yum!)

Sunshine through the colored leaves on the trees

and

the smell of fall in the air - hard to describe, but you know it when you first smell it in the air!

What are some of your fall favorites?

Finally?

I have always been a big fan of blogs...reading them, finding them, blog-hopping really. I have always wanted to write one. I have a lot of opinions and like to try new things, so I think sharing those experiences and opinions could be fun. I need to work on a design and a plan, but I am hoping that FINALLY I can really begin to become a 'blogger.'
